God Horus (Harpocrates)
myminifactory
A 16cm bronze sculpture captures the likeness of God Horus, circa 644-30 BCE. The Minneapolis Institute of Art made this discovery possible through their scanning technology. Built using PhotoScan and repaired in ZBrush, the sculpture showcases typical characteristics associated with childhood. These markers include nudity, a side braid, and a finger placed within the mouth. In ancient Egyptian hieroglyphs, the position of the hand to the lower lip or chin symbolized "child." Established by Greek rule in 332 BCE, this depiction is a result of their adaptation of Egyptian gods, renaming them in the process. Harpocrates, the Greek name for Horus-the-Child, dates back to the Hellenistic period.
