Gock Block / Jam Block Handle and Stick Holder for LP Medium
thingiverse
July 29 2017 I uploaded a modified version of these models that reinforce the handle connection and make the stick holder stronger. As a marching band show designer and instructor, I rely on "gock" blocks used by most instructors and directors, which I've had for 8 years. To eliminate the awkward mounting hardware, I designed a 3D printed handle and incorporated a stick holder to prevent loss. The handle features a lanyard loop. After using this setup for several hours of rehearsal, it appears to be holding up well. For hardware needs, I used basic descriptions of required components from my scrap hardware box. The hex nut hole measures about 12mm, but an 11mm nut fits perfectly. A screw or bolt 1-2 inches long is sufficient; the hole has a countersink feature. I based the handle on Captain Obvious's GoPro Handle design. If you've printed and used one of these models, please share your experience. Print Settings: Printer: MOD-t Rafts: No preference Supports: None required Resolution: 0.1-0.3mm Infill: 25% works well Notes: Use the stick holder as a template if unsure about hardware selection. Adjust the clip size on the stick holder by heating it with hot water or a heat gun and bending to fit. Design Process: I used Tinkercad for modeling and digital calipers for measurements.
