Goblin upscale for Estes Pro series 3" tubing
thingiverse
Responding to a request, I upscaled the parts to my Goblin fin can and associated nosecone to fit Estes Pro Series 3" tubing.Unlike my previous fin can design, this one is designed to slot the fins through the body tube to the motor tube. There is a FinSlotGuide part to help you make these cuts. That guide also has notches to help you mark where to put a line for your launch rod/rail guides. The design has fins for 29, 38 or 54mm motor mounts, though that last one is probably not advised. The fins come in "Supported" or unsupported versions. When printing fins upright like this I find that the supports, which can be snipped off after printing, really go a long way to making the fins nice. The unsupported ones tend to wobble when being printed producing visible distortion near the top.I've also supplied three centering rings for each motor tube size.It is up to you to decide how many centering rings you want to use. Honestly, you may want to make those out of wood rather than 3D print them. You'll have to figure out how to weight the nosecone. I don't actually have any of this tubing myself. You'll also have to figure out your own launch attachments. At this scale I'd probably go with rail mounts, especially at the larger motor sizes. 1/4" lugs might work at the 29mm size.Should you build this, post a make, and video of the launch. I love to see my creations fly, even if I don't have the means to do so myself.
