The Domestic Goat, scientifically known as C. aegagrus hircus, has been extensively domesticated from its wild counterpart found in Southwest Asia and Eastern Europe. As a Bovidae family member and Caprinae subfamily inhabitant, goats exhibit close genetic ties to sheep. With over 300 unique breeds identified globally, the goat is one of the earliest species to have undergone domestication worldwide. Accession Number: 80.19
