GO Train/Bombardier Bilevel Passenger Car
thingiverse
This is the basic cut info for a layered Bombardier bilevel passenger car, as seen on GO Transit/Metrolink/Coaster trains. This layout features 1 exterior and 3 interior layers all on a single 300mm-square sheet that's just one foot in size. The interior layers have a stair ramp leading from lower to mid-level, and another from mid-level to the top-level. I placed two layers side by side, then the other two layers across from them so tiny people could easily climb up to the top floor. I used 6.35mm-thick sheets set into six layers which roughly fits the scale at 90% of HO or 3:261. It might look better if the exteriors were thinner like actual wall thickness - 3mm or even thinner sheets with one or two more interior layers. HO wheelsets were added to these cars and I had to use metal ones since plastic ones couldn't handle their massive size. I also want to try using Brio wheels next time. I was amazed at how enormous these train cars actually are, dwarfing all the other ones I have even at 90% scale. Couplers should be attached at a decent height on each end of these cars. There's a hole on each side for inserting a 6.4mm dowel to keep the layers perfectly aligned. A piece of transparent film inside the exterior is recommended for tiny windows that give them a clear view through the car. To-do list: * Add doors to each end * Outline the size of those doors
