In 2019, a 4.44 m high sundial made of Cantabrian stone was installed facing the fronton of the commune d'Arraute Charrite in the Basque Country, France. Designed and sculpted by Régis Pochelu, born in 1970 at Hasparren, this project was undertaken in collaboration with his students at school. This artistic and educational initiative encourages children to learn how to tell time, distinguish geographical axes, observe the effect of solar inclination on seasons, and recall ancient history from our ancestors.
