Gnome riding a whale (OpenSCAD mashup)
thingiverse
A whimsical scene in OpenSCAD features a wooden-supported whale with a smoking gnome riding atop, created through a tutorial found here: http://www.makerbot.com/tutorials/openscadmashup/. Originally, meshing issues led to lengthy compile and render times, but simplification in Meshlab and increased CGAL memory resolved this. STL export took around 15 minutes post-adjustments. Printing with settings of 0.2mm layer height, hollow fill, and fine detail resulted in a visually pleasing object, yet required intricate support removal; future improvements may address this challenge.
