A group of us indoors consistently pilot nano QX's weekly using First-Person View technology. All have experienced motor failures after four to five hours in the air, and replacement parts are either excessively expensive or arriving slowly from China. Inspired by the design of FireFlo, we sought to reduce weight on a single-deck for the nano QX board and camera while utilizing affordable 7mm Hubsan motors and props. The outcome is this Gnat QX model, which weighs in at only three grams. Its all-up weight without batteries is twenty-four grams, six grams more than standard specifications. This design exhibits superior power in comparison to EFlites' 6mm motors. Edit: version one point one has added a second loom band clip for securing the battery firmly. version two extends arms slightly; an optional modification aiming to eliminate slight wobbling. Numerous Hubsan motor/prop sets are available, with some falsely claiming to be genuine. Our test subject functions optimally on 7 x 20mm hollow cups combined with the original propellers provided. Several companions experienced difficulties with different propeller configurations; a custom-built mini bullnose trimmer is being developed for precise adjustments. Edit2: We have added two new motor cap designs along with an upgraded version three chassis. The enhanced framework and larger batteries now total thirty-five grams, but the wobble is eliminated. Applying a small piece of foam or thin neoprene between the frame and battery solves contact issues with motor connectors. Version four includes hooks for improved camera retention and a stinger for strain relief on the battery wiring. After several requests, we incorporated an 8.5mm motor option compatible with Hubsan parts, though they will likely compromise a stock Nano QX flight controller. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=MvO3es128r4 Edit3: We have introduced version five featuring sturdier frames designed specifically for newer F3 flight controllers like the Banggood-released Kylin: http://www.banggood.com/Eachine-SKYkylin-F3-Brushed-Flight-Control-Board-Built-in-FRSKY-Compatible-8CH-Receiver-p-1100694.html?p=JN120678599082016128 Printer Details: Model: Da Vinci Raft Use: No Supports Needed: None Resolution Used: 0.2mm layer thickness Infill Percentage: twenty to twenty-five percent Print Settings: Perimeters: Three outer shells First Layer Thickness: 0.3 millimeters
