Glue-Stick Moist Application Sponge Holder (G-SMASH)

This is a versatile tool for applying glue to prints, using a soft sponge to distribute the adhesive evenly across a smooth surface. The adhesive stick gave an uneven texture to the print bed, which made the prints adhere too tightly. By using this method, you can achieve perfect glue adhesion with each new layer, while maintaining a perfectly smooth print finish after every pass. I created this design specifically for UHU glue sticks but I suspect it should work with many brands; scale it up or down as needed. The applicator's center hole has a 26mm diameter with a narrower section of approximately 24mm in length. Instructions Print your application holder in your preferred material, PLA works fine while PET was used for the mockups shown above. Remove the backing from the adhesive strip and attach it to the sponge, fitting it securely within the tool's center. Place a glue stick into the 26mm diameter opening; this is where you'll be drawing up the amount of adhesive needed. To soak the sponge in water, simply submerge it gently in the provided reservoir. This is an ideal step-by-step method I always use when creating prints. Begin by tracing a diagonal pattern on your work surface using the sticky tool's center tip - be sure to rotate it slightly during this step. Once satisfied with the even coating achieved from the first step, retract the adhesive application head while moving it steadily in horizontal strokes starting from the print bed's central region towards each edge - ensure straight alignment for consistent quality. My creation is built on the platform of Tinkercad; subsequent to its development I utilized CraftWare as my slicing software, before proceeding with a flawless test print facilitated through use of my own craftbot 3D printer unit.
