9/20/2019 Added a notched version that now works with the atomics that have the support. The VAWT wings proved tricky to align and glue together at the ends, using only small holes as guides, which led to frustration when trying to hold all the parts in various configurations. A super lightweight joint was devised for the Savonius & Gorlov VAWT, allowing dry-fitting, assembling, and gluing of the wings in different arrangements. This can be found here: https://www.thingiverse.com/thing:16504. Modeling these joints in Fusion 360 proved challenging due to sophisticated wing geometry that doesn't allow for straightforward CAD extrusion along with tight tolerances. Even if they're not used in the final assembly, these joints are helpful in holding some of the connections while dry-fitting the various components. If using the atomics with support, use the notched version of the joint. Depending on your configuration, you may need both types. Each joint weighs less than 1 gram, so it's unlikely to affect the balance or performance of the VAWT if one is used on each wing. However, use at your own discretion as they are not fully tested yet. PRINTING: Yes, these require supports for proper printing. A 15-20% zigzag support style with no roof worked well and weren't too difficult to remove.
