Glue Gun Support
cults3d
I'm working on a custom extruder for thick plastic rods, inspired by a glue gun design. My goal is to create starch-based plastics with a glass-like finish, similar to those showcased at Shapeways: Cooking molding bioplastics at home recipes, results, and tips. To achieve this, I plan to use the glue gun on my MakerBot to perform extrusion. In addition to plastic, we're also experimenting with other materials that can be extruded. This is a prototype of the glue gun support, which requires about 3 hours to print per side. The sides fit together using M3 bolts leftover from your CupCake CNC, and the wings attach over the z-axis bolts for direct mounting on your CupCake CNC. A system to automate glue gun extrusion is currently in development, pushing the boundaries even further than this experimental design.
