Glowing Moon Lamp Base
thingiverse
I'm absolutely fascinated by the Glowing Lithograph moons that I've seen people printing, and I wanted to create my own desk lamp inspired by Brandonzhun's design: https://www.thingiverse.com/thing:2531838\r\n\r\nI printed just the top part of the moon and designed a simple lamp base that would take its place at the bottom. I quickly drew it up in Rhino 3D, aiming for something easy to print with my Makerbox samples, which I've been excited to use. I chose Proto Pasta's Glitter filament for this project.\r\n\r\nYou can print this design without supports and with a wide range of layer heights, although I think I used .16mm or .2mm. Next, I used a small C7 light bulb socket/candelabra base from a local hardware store: https://www.menards.com/main/lighting-ceiling-fans/lighting-hardware-accessories/kits-cleaners-accessories/patriot-lighting-snap-in-socket-cord-set-with-switch/p-1444429515492-c-7522.htm?tid=-2798504868495257948&ipos=1 and a .4w C7 LED bulb. The light socket was attached with some hot glue, fitting snugly around it.\r\n\r\nIf you're curious, I printed the Moon with Maker Geek's White hot white at .12mm layer height and 75mms to minimize visible layer lines, which turned out great in my opinion.\r\n\r\nFeel free to print this Glowing Moon lamp base for personal use or as a gift; just don't sell it. If you're interested in selling one or more, let me know and we'll work something out.
