Glowing Apple of Eden Base (Remixed)
thingiverse
This is a remix of the Apple of Eden Base with a snap-fit enclosure that's slightly smaller than the original but built with better quality thanks to a layer-by-layer tutorial by the Ruiz brothers at Adafruit. The enclosure features a hole for a 3mm LED and mini SPDT switch, along with four posts designed for an Adafruit Trinket (3v or 5v) - two of which can be broken off if not needed. The electronics used detect when the Apple is placed on the base, illuminating it until removed, at which point the base's illumination stops. Check out the original video and the one below for more details. For all design specifications, STL files, and suggested part numbers, visit the original project on Thingiverse (https://www.thingiverse.com/thing:1983334). I've also included a short cylindrical post that can be glued to the top base, making printing easier. Watch the video below to see the base and Apple in action.
