Glovebox USB for BMW vehicle

If you don't use the flashlight in your e46 BMW glovebox, a great USB port adapter is available that will plug directly into the dash and provide two switched ports! I removed the center of the flashlight receptacle using a screwdriver and carefully removed the pins, which were then reused in the new adapter. Print both pieces separately, then connect two buck converters with 18AWG wire. Be careful when working in this tight space, as it requires delicacy. The pin closest to the edge is negative. Before inserting from the bottom, solder the lead wires to the pins - be cautious not to insert too far. Insert the assembled converter into the receptacle, then push the female connector housing onto the back. Plug in the car's wire and re-insert the adapter into the glovebox. Enjoy your two 5v/3A ports!
