The Gloster Javelin was the last aircraft from Gloster, introduced in the mid-50s as a subsonic all-weather night interceptor to defend the British Isles against potential Soviet bomber attacks. Throughout its service life, it underwent several upgrades, including engine improvements, radar enhancements, and weapons updates. However, these aircraft were retired in 1968 when the British Electric Lightning proved much more capable than the Javelin.
