Gloomhaven Monster: Giant Viper
thingiverse
This is a miniature for the Gloomhaven Giant Viper monster that I created. I made sure to accurately capture the scale pattern, even if it means printing the base with one of the numbers partially covered by the snake. Since this model doesn't fit entirely on my bases, I'm currently printing a batch with the bases attached and adjusting the print settings as needed. Unlike most of my models, this one requires minimal support, which is easy to remove once printed. To achieve this, I split the design into two halves: the lower half shouldn't need any additional support, while the top half can be printed separately at an odd angle with support. I'm still experimenting with printing the split versions, but the whole model prints well without a base. Update: I've successfully printed both single-piece and split versions of this model on a base. While some spines may get mangled when printing as a single piece, the issue is minor. I designed this miniature using a .25 mm nozzle and 0.05 mm layer heights. If you encounter any issues with other hardware, please let me know so I can investigate further. The "action shot" in my Thingiverse collection at https://www.thingaverse.com/VirtuallyJason/collections/gloomhaven-upgrades shows what this model looks like when completed. 8/11/18 Update: I've written a blog post about how I created this Giant Viper, which can be found at http://objectforge.blogspot.com/2018/08/new-thing-giant-viper.html.
