Globe Knot
thingiverse
I've crafted knots in various forms. My software can create detailed instructions for tying them by hand, 3D models for printing them with a 3D printer, and precise tool paths for cutting them with CNC machines. Most recently, I adapted my software to generate a combination of 3D models and step-by-step guides for assembling knots out of dowels and connectors. The goal was to create a challenging puzzle that could be turned into an ornament or art piece once completed. This is my initial test run of the idea using 1/4" wooden dowels and custom-made connectors printed with a 3D printer. You'll need exactly 60 lengths of 40mm (1.57 inches) diameter dowels to get started. Learn more about this innovative project on my blog.
