Glider Motor Pod Conversion (removable)
thingiverse
This is a motor pod designed for adding or relocating motors on RC gliders. It accommodates motors with a 16 x 19 mounting pattern, leaving space for propellers up to 10 inches. The Electronic Speed Controller (ESC) sits inside the pod. Tips: - Use heat-set inserts on the mount for added security. - Print with 100% infill and one perimeter outline for optimal results. Although printing at 15% infill worked initially, it's recommended to use higher infill density for better durability. - Print as shown, adding supports for both the pod and its cap. Required hardware: (3) M2 x 6 SHCS screws for securing the pod cap to the pod (4) M3 x 10 SHCS screws for attaching the mid section to the mount (Motor Mounting Screws: details pending) Optional hardware: (4) M3 heat-set inserts for added stability Instructions: 1. Install the motor into the pod and connect the wires to the ESC. 2. Route the ESC wiring down through the middle section of the glider. 3. Secure the pod to the mid section using CA adhesive and accelerator. 4. Thread the holes in the mount with an M3 tap or drill them out and install heat-set inserts. This project is still under development.
