Glen Rose Dinosaur Track
thingiverse
A simplified model of a fossilized dinosaur track from Glen Rose is utilized to create stamps for dino tracks on paper. These stamps are made using Sugru and its open-source equivalent, Oogoo. The model has been applied in SOLID Learning workshops with the theme "Making Tracks." Teachers have used it to make Jell-o(tm) tracks for workshop lunches and as hand-outs for kids. Dr. Louis Jacobs of SMU and Dr. James Brooks shared their original scan, allowing its public use for educational purposes. The positive mold is reduced by 50% in the z-axis to minimize Sugru/Oogoo volume needed per track. The negative mold retains accurate proportions for making cookie or brownie dough imprints with dinosaur tracks. One teacher filled these tracks with icing, while others preferred the crackling surface of brownies. Ensure using food-safe materials or seal fully using food-rated varnish or silicone. Reynolds Advanced Materials' molding agents have been used for casting edible sugar forms in the past with good results.
