Station 1—The Turas begins at the 'Altar' just outside the Church of Ireland's west wall in An tSráid. To get there, pilgrims can enter a nearby field from the main road. This stone slab is likely an ancient megalithic tomb dating back thousands of years before Christ; it was also used as a makeshift altar during early Christian times around 1650-1750 AD. Devotees recite prayers including Our Father, five Hail Marys, and the Gloria.
