Gled Law 1 (2007)
sketchfab
Carved area of outcrop proudly sits atop Gled Law to the east of West Horton in Northumberland. Recorded as 'Gled Law 1' on the Beckensall Archive, it was expertly added to ERA by the Northumberland and Durham Rock Art Project (NADRAP) in 2008. Motifs consist of two bold cups, one featuring a groove surrounded by intricate penannulars, and the other boasting just elegant penannulars. A number of deliberate linear grooves are also present, while some straight lines appear to be plough strikes, others at right angles demonstrate clear intentionality. ERA record can be accessed here: https://archaeologydataservice.ac.uk/era/section/panel/overview.jsf?eraId=96 It remains unclear whether this rock forms part of the following Historic England scheduling. However, it does seem to be marked on OS maps: https://historicengland.org.uk/listing/the-list/list-entry/1006558 A detailed model was created from five precise images, captured using a high-quality 5mp Nikon Coolpix 5400 by Kevin Malloy on January 23rd, 2007. The imagery forms an essential part of the ERA / NADRAP archive.
