The Gleaves-class destroyers, built between 1938 and 1942, comprised a class of 66 vessels in the United States Navy. This intricately detailed model features numerous animatable components, including guns and turrets, anti-aircraft Bofors, 20mm cannons, davits, whaleboats, hatches, propellers, rudders, and more. Flags can be added and animated easily, while anchors, handrails, ladders, and hatches also bring the model to life. Life rafts are included and launchable. Constructed with textures and available in multiple formats, these models render exceptionally well with good animation and rendering techniques. Distinguishable from the Benson-class destroyers (DD-421) only by their round stacks versus flat-sided stacks, Gleaves-class destroyers were the primary production destroyer of the US Navy as it entered World War II.
