The Gleaves-class destroyers, built between 1938 and 1942, were a series of 66 vessels in the United States Navy. These detailed models boast numerous animateable features, including guns, turrets, anti-aircraft Bofors, 20mm cannons, davits, whaleboats, hatches, propellers, and rudders. Flags can be easily added and animated, as can anchors with the addition of anchor chains. Handrails, ladders, and hatches are also present throughout the model, while life rafts can be launched. The textures-equipped model is available in multiple formats and renders exceptionally well when combined with good animation and rendering techniques. Distinguishable from the Benson-class destroyers (DD-421) only by their round stacks, Gleaves-class vessels were the production destroyer of choice for the US Navy upon entering WWII.
