The Gleaves-class destroyers, a group of 66 vessels in the United States Navy built between 1938 and 1942, boast an intricate design with numerous animatable features such as guns, turrets, anti-aircraft Bofors, 20mm cannons, davits, whaleboats, hatches, propellers, and rudders. Animated flags and anchors, handrails, ladders, hatches, life rafts, and textured models in various formats are also part of this detailed design. These models render realistically with good animation and rendering techniques. Distinctive round stacks set the Gleaves-class apart from its Benson-class counterparts (with flat-sided stacks). As the primary production destroyers for the US Navy during World War II, these ships left a significant mark on naval history.
