The Gleaves-class destroyers, a group of 66 ships in the U.S. Navy built between 1938 and 1942, are strikingly similar to the Benson-class destroyers (DD-421). The distinction lies in their stack designs - Gleaves class features round stacks while Benson class boasts flat-sided ones. As the main production destroyer for the U.S. Navy at the onset of World War II, these ships are detailed and animateable models, including guns and turrets, anti-aircraft Bofors, 20mm cannons, davits, whaleboats, hatches, propellers, rudders, animated flags, and anchors with chains.
