The Gleaves-class destroyers, a group of 66 ships in the U.S. Navy built between 1938 and 1942, are strikingly similar to the Benson-class destroyers (DD-421). The distinction lies in their stack designs - Gleaves class features round stacks while Benson class boasts flat-sided ones. As the main production destroyer for the U.S. Navy at the onset of World War II, these ships are detailed and animateable models, including guns and turrets, anti-aircraft Bofors, 20mm cannons, davits, whaleboats, hatches, propellers, rudders, animated flags, and anchors with chains. Additional features include handrails, ladders, hatches, life rafts that can be launched, and models available in multiple formats, all built with textures for a realistic rendering.
