Glastonbury Cross

Glastonbury Cross

thingiverse

In the 12th century, a group of monks from Glastonbury Abbey embarked on an excavation with a singular goal: to uncover the remains of the legendary King Arthur. According to their claims, they discovered two skeletons buried beneath a leaden cross on the Glastonbury Tor. Historians today cast doubt on the authenticity of the monks' findings, but the existence of the leaden cross is a verifiable fact. An image of it was skillfully engraved in a book as far back as 1607, although the original cross itself has been lost to the sands of time since the 18th century. I personally created my own miniature replica from that engraving, and while it's not perfect, I still find it quite endearing. The Latin inscription, roughly translated, reads: "Here lies buried the renowned King Arthur in the isle of Avalon."
