Glasses fix nahhh, rebuild!
thingiverse
My sister asked me if I could repair her eyeglasses; why not create new ones instead? This was an excellent opportunity for a demanding design project. What truly mattered here wasn't so much the end result but rather my approach to tackling it. First, I took precise pictures of each lens and imported them into SketchUp for further manipulation. I employed a clever trick using three-point arcs to recreate a polygon that matched their shape exactly. Next, I eradicated the image, then resized this digital outline to accurately represent its dimensions in reality. It wasn't until this stage that I realized just how much time would be needed to fashion the frame itself. To bond the pieces together seamlessly, I turned to a trusty welding iron. Once joined, they were ready for the next step: bringing my design into 3D life using Ninjaflex's durable yet malleable printing material - a perfect fit for crafting unbreakable eyewear!
