Glass plate binder clip adapter

Glass plate binder clip adapter

I designed binder clip adaptors that hold the glass in place on my printer head plate. I created two versions, one for a 19mm glass and another for a 25mm glass. These adaptors clear the printing area, allowing for more space to print. They also make it easy to remove and install the glass without having to take all the clips off. One side can stay in place while you slide the glass out from underneath. You might occasionally melt them during bed leveling, but your printing head will never hit a metal clip again. I print them by the dozen! On my Wanaho Dup i3 printer, these adaptors allow the cooling system on the print head to move over the clip without contact. After cleaning the adaptor, simply insert one side of the clip and then attach it to something. Press the other side into place with a tool, like using the wrong end of a spoon. I use 19mm clips on my printer but also made a 25mm version for others who might need it. To assemble the adaptor, I folded thin cardboard strips from the clip package and placed them under the glass plate to shim it. The bottom strip goes under the heat bed to protect the heating element. Then, simply attach the clip to these strips. It works well! This is probably an optional step, but it's always better to be safe than sorry. These adaptors will work great if you print with heat, and I've tested them up to 110°C without any issues. You can use these adaptors and download the blend file for both sizes (19mm and 25mm).
