Glass clips for Printrbot Simple Metal with mic6 aluminum heatbed
thingiverse
These are custom clips designed to hold down an 8"x6", 1/8" thick borosilicate glass sheet installed on my Printrbot Simple Metal with the mic6 aluminum heat bed upgrade. The four outermost bolts securing the bed wings to the aluminum frame required longer M3 screws for attachment. A .stl file containing both clip sides, plus individual side files are provided; a second print run will be needed for completion. Following PLA print runs that resulted in warped clips causing loose screw attachments due to heat exposure, ABS reprints solved this issue and now perform well under the upgraded heat bed setup. It's highly recommended to use ABS material for printing these custom clips. UPDATE: A heat bed insulator kit released by Printrbot has become available; this kit includes a thermal barrier sheet, as well as Delrin spacers enhancing clearance underneath the heat bed. Two more spacer pieces isolate the steel bed wings from aluminum parts, producing a distinct 'step' space between them. The newly created stl file: glass_clips w/delrin spacers, incorporates these changes to produce an ideal step in the custom clip design for compatibility with all existing setups. If necessary, please use the original .stl files for the custom clips.
