Glass Bed Clips and Holder
thingiverse
I purchased a large 15x15" piece of tempered glass to use as a print bed and needed a way to safely support and secure it on a moving gantry. The system allows for three-point leveling. This setup includes a glass clip and a mounting base that can be fixed in position while the glass is removed without removing the clips, allowing for easy cleaning and parts removal without affecting the bed's leveling. This system uses M5 hardware: Three cap screws (M5x8) Three tee nuts (M5) Three hex bolts (M5x35) Three nuts - the narrower, the better Three springs (1/2" x 7/8") in my case The knob used was an M5 nut from here: http://www.thingiverse.com/thing:641854 My printer has 20x20 OpenBuild V-slot rails for the gantry. The base is secured to the rails using a cap screw and tee nut. The hole diameter in the base and the loose fitting nut in the knob provide some degree of freedom for adjusting the bed, working well on large beds like this but probably not as effective on smaller beds. I haven't tested this setup, but here are the basic directions: Print the parts Mount the bases Assemble and install the glass clips Mount the glass The base locations will need to be adjusted based on gantry layout, glass size, etc. I recommend keeping the bases a bit loose in the rail until you set the glass and then lock them down, placing the bases near the edge of the glass so you can get an Allen wrench under it to tighten. Note: The base shown above is an earlier version and not the final one; the hole is large enough for the M5 hex bolt but doesn't provide bed angle adjustment. Print Settings: Printer: Cobblebot Basic Rafts: No Supports: No Resolution: 0.2 - 0.25 Infill: 40% Notes: I used white PLA for my prints, which allowed me to mark the adjustment directions right on the pieces, making bed leveling much easier. I designed this in FreeCAD. If someone is interested in the design files, let me know and I can upload them.
