Glass bed clip. Mk2b heated bed
thingiverse
I purchased an i3 clone for an incredibly low price, but it turned out to be a disappointment when I printed with it. One major issue was the bow in the PCB heated bed that left a significant gap between the heater and the glass bed. I also noticed that the bed adjustment screws were close to tearing out of their sockets on the PCB. To fix this problem, I modified a clip design from Thingiverse (link coming soon) that runs along the entire length of the bed. This new clip not only secures the screw holes but also prevents the Kapton tape from peeling off and exposing the bed insulation. Cleaning the glass bed is now much easier thanks to my new approach. I no longer remove the glass to clean it; instead, I use methylated spirits or Windolene/Windex to wipe it down in place. The spirits are particularly effective at removing hairspray residue, a tip I learned from Angus of Makers Muse. In South Africa, isopropyl alcohol can be quite pricey and only available at specialty stores, but the spirit is easily found at any supermarket.
