Glass Bed Clip 6mm
thingiverse
I finally got my hands on a glass bed (borosilicate) for my printer. Finding printable clips that I could use was a major challenge, so I designed some myself. Using binder clips was an option, but I wanted to avoid the risk of shorting out the heat traces on the bottom side of the bed. After searching, I found simple "C" shaped designs, but they didn't look like much effort had gone into them. I understand that a clip is just a clip, so I moved forward with designing my own. These clips are designed to clamp at 5.82mm, and in my case, I needed 6mm (3mm for the heated bed plate and 3mm for the glass). This seemed like a good starting point for clamping force. These clips have worked out amazingly well so far. They're easy to add and remove, and they hold everything together perfectly as expected. I also added a little fish tail feature on the outside, making it easy to attach and detach them. I printed these clips using PETG, which holds up well to heat and has some flexibility. You can try printing them with any material you like, and I'm curious to see what works best. These clips are designed to be print-ready without supports or anything in the way. I've also included a Solidworks file for anyone who needs to adjust the size for their printer. You can easily scale them up or down using your slicer program if needed.
