Glass Bed Clamp for Printrbot Simple Metal w/ Heated Bed
thingiverse
After examining various glass bed clips, I found that none of them met the requirements for my Printrbot Simple Metal's very thick heated bed. Consequently, I fired up my copy of Fusion 360 and, after 14 revisions, came up with a design that perfectly fit my needs. Update: The ABS printed versions lasted about a month before becoming ineffective due to fatigue. I then printed a new set out of PETG which held up well and will continue to report on their performance over time. Further Update: The PETG printed versions remained effective for almost a year, so I now highly recommend using this material. Design constraints included: * 25mm bed thickness * 30mm from edge of bed to glass * 3mm glass thickness * 14mm lip at the bottom of the bed The resulting clip allows the bed to have complete range of motion and holds tightly to both the bed and the glass. It should work fairly well for different glass thicknesses. It's been designed to print in ABS or PETG -- other materials may not have the correct flexibility and heat tolerance. I printed it with 15% infill and a single 0.8mm perimeter, but it will probably work fine with your preferred settings as well. Print Settings * Printer Brand: Printrbot * Printer: Simple Black * Rafts: No * Supports: No * Resolution: 0.3mm * Infill: 15% * Notes: This is designed to be printed in ABS plastic.
