A version with wingtip extensions was released in 1978, creating a 17-meter class glider. The DG-200 is part of the same generation as the ASW-20 PIK-29 and Mosquito, with a total of 192 units manufactured. Some later models even included carbon fiber spars. Notably, the DG-200 served as the foundation for the development of the DG-400 motor glider.
