In 1978, wingtip extensions were added to create the 17-meter class version. As part of its generation, it shares similarities with the ASW-20 PIK-29 and Mosquito. A total of 192 DG-200 models were produced, some featuring carbon fiber spars. The DG-200 served as the basis for building the motorized DG-400 glider.
