There's a lot of strange things throughout the void, and one of Kate's favorites is the "Horny Devil Flower", a semi-intelligent alien plant with tentacular appendages. Unbeknownst to human historical records, this genus was cultivated by the very sex-positive Sirian empire, the plants were propagated during their early civilization as the humanoid aliens would help pollinate the plants through intercourse. Eventually the popular flora native to the Sirian homeworld would evolve to recognize compatible mates, their moods, and were thus turned into a marketable companion plant.
