Dedicated by his father, this poignant monument honors Colonel James Ainslie younger of Elvingston, who made the ultimate sacrifice on April 9th, 1876 at Fulford Barracks in York. At just 45 years old, he led the Royal Dragoons with unwavering dedication until his untimely demise.
