Gladius refers to the primary sword of Ancient Roman foot soldiers, derived from one Latin word for sword. Initially, early ancient Roman swords resembled those wielded by the Greeks, known as xiphos. From the 3rd century BC onwards, however, the Romans adopted a sword similar to that used by the Celtiberians and others late into the Second Punic War, designated in Latin as gladius hispaniensis or Hispanic sword. A fully equipped Roman legionary after the reforms of Gaius Marius was armed with a shield (scutum), one or two javelins (pila), a sword (gladius), often a dagger (pugio), and, perhaps in the later empire period, darts (plumbatae). Conventionally, soldiers hurled pila to disable enemy shields and disrupt formations before engaging in close combat, for which they drew their gladius. Typically, a soldier led with the shield and thrust with the sword. 4k textures; Normal maps for opengl and directx in archive; PBR Low poly geometry If you have any questions or problems with the model, write to me in private messages.
