Gladiator's Gravestone Depicts Intense Battle Between Two Fighters. The stone monument showcases two gladiators locked in combat, each representing a different type of fighter, in two distinct sections. This artifact was discovered in the Colosseum in Rome and dates back to the 3rd or 4th century A.D. It is expertly carved from marble. Scolasticus, the Secutor, pursues his opponent with deadly intent, while Damascenus, the Retiarius, fights with a net that could potentially entangle and disarm him. The two men are engaged in a fierce struggle to the death, as depicted on this ancient gravestone.
