A set of custom-designed screw caps, optimized for use with GL-45 threads. I engineered these caps to meet the demands of various student projects that required an adapter from standard GL-45 caps to 1/4 inch OD tubing. The challenge was finding a solution that would provide a secure seal without relying on glue or sealant. After careful consideration, I determined that NPT threading into "Push-to-connect" fittings was the most effective approach, but the standard thickness of GL-45 caps proved insufficient for creating a reliable seal. These custom screw caps have been successfully employed in several applications: - Storage vessels require a secure cap to prevent spills and contamination - Inoculum storage necessitates extra care, as biomass decomposition can occur, leading to pressure buildup; one-way valves are screwed into the caps to release excess pressure - Liquid barbotage systems benefit from these custom caps, ensuring reliable connections and minimizing leaks
