World Horse Welfare recently unveiled its stunning World Horse Sculpture Trail at the Royal Windsor Horse Show 2019. This incredible showcase featured Gitana, a resilient and hardworking miniature donkey who pulls a cart to market each day with her owner Santos. Santos has been instrumental in learning about Gitana's needs and is constantly striving to improve her care. His dedication has not gone unnoticed, as he has also contributed to World Horse Welfare's project in Nicaragua. Gitana's unique design was inspired by traditional gypsy print dresses, reflecting her name's meaning. Her story began on the World Horse Welfare Borough Trail in Windsor and Chelsea, where she captured the hearts of many from April to August. The mastermind behind Gitana is acclaimed artist Judy Boyt, who drew inspiration from Lucas, a foal rescued by World Horse Welfare after being abandoned and frozen. Thanks to their care, Lucas has grown into a beautiful sport horse, serving as a testament to the organization's mission. Artist Julian Seaman was instrumental in bringing this project to life with his impressive sculpture, highlighting the importance of compassion and care for horses like Gitana and Lucas.
