"Girih" is the Persian word for "knot," referring to the straight lines that run through these tiles, forming a design known as "strapwork." Girih tiles are a set of five unique tiles that were used in the creation of intricate tiling patterns for decoration of buildings in Islamic Architecture. The five shapes of the tiles include: A regular decagon with ten interior angles measuring 144 degrees; An elongated hexagon, irregular and convex, with interior angles of 72, 144, 144, 72, 144, and 144 degrees; A bow-tie shaped hexagon that is non-convex, featuring interior angles of 72, 72, 216, 72, 72, and 216 degrees; A rhombus with interior angles measuring 72 and 108 degrees each; A regular pentagon with five interior angles of 108 degrees.
