A modern take on the iconic 'Ginza Robot' cabinet, originally conceived by Masanori Umeda in 1982. This design is a nod to the Memphis movement, founded by Ettore Sottsass in 1981 with a mission to create vibrant, abstract postmodern pieces perfect for an era of rapid industrialization and prosperity. Although its impact was short-lived, Memphis left a lasting legacy on the world of design, with some iconic pieces like the Bel Air chair still widely produced today. The cabinet's bold geometric style is a quintessential representation of 80s aesthetics as envisioned by designers fascinated by Japan's influence in robotics. This 3D model was designed and textured using Autodesk Fusion 360 to test the colour quality and resolution of full-colour, multi-material Additive Manufacturing systems such as Stratasys' Polyjet J750 and Mimaki 3DUJ-553.
