Superstar_beki's model didn't fit on my print bed and I didn't like that it was already scaled, so I imported their model into Fusion 360 and scaled the length and a few other things such as adding a joining peg to connect the base and the tip

You should print this with "Supports Everywhere".

This model expects pretty good print tolerances at the nub/notch interface.

(I'm printing for the first time right now, so it's possible I'll edit this in the near future.)

Print Settings

Printer Brand:

Prusa

Printer:

i3 MK3

Rafts:

No

Supports:

Yes

Resolution:

0.20mm

Infill:

40%

Filament: Hatchbox PLA, 1.75 Copper

Notes:

Sliced with Slic3r.
I extruded at 205 first layer, 205 subsequent laters.
Post-Printing

I had to trim, with a Xacto blade, around both the nub and the notch (because of supports).

Align the tip and the base correctly, CA glue the tip to the base.

I sanded the whole thing, especially the top and bottom, first with a small metal file and them with a 3M Extra-Fine sanding sponge/block. Then washed it off.

I could go much further with sanding and painting, but I'm really white pleased with how it looks after sanding with the Hatchbox Copper filament.

How I Designed This

Imported model into Fusion 360. Reduced the number of facets to 0.198. Scale by 0.1 to get the correct units (it imported at 10x). Scale the length by 1.04 to get the correct length according to Google.

I sliced the model at the tip of the handle to create a nub on the base and a notch in the tip to make glueing a bit easier. I should have used a non-symmetric shape for the nub (live and learn).

Category: Props
