Gingery Lathe Split Nut

Gingery Lathe Split Nut

myminifactory

This is a split nut designed according to David Gingery's "metal lathe" book, intended to be finished as described and then cast in pot metal. To replicate this accurately, you will need to follow the casting process exactly as outlined in the chapter, including using the metal rod, putty, and threaded rod specified. The wood portion of the casting is replicated here, skipping the steps where a wooden version would typically be created. All other procedures remain unchanged. This 3D model already features some fillets and draft, simplifying the process for you to print it in PLA with a 0.15mm layer height and support material for the overhanging curves.
