A majestic gilt bronze statue portrays Sakyamuni Buddha sitting majestically on a lotus throne. The subtle gesture of his right hand conveys his profound teachings to all who listen. Standing 68 centimeters tall, including its sturdy base, this masterpiece dates back to the late Tang or Five Dynasties era (10th century). Unearthed from the crypt beneath the Thunder Peak Pagoda in Hangzhou, China, it is now proudly displayed at the Zhejiang Provincial Museum's Gushan Branch within the same city.
