Make Your 3D Printer Play Music Using Its Sounds, Converting a Song into G-code That Tells the Printer How to Move Along its Axes. It's Possible to Convert Any Song Into G-code. Convert Gilligan's Island Theme to G-code Using the Provided Instructions. To start with, go under slicer configuration settings and click on printer settings. Once there select custom g-code and paste the given G-code. You need to type G28 after the last line of the G-code so that your printer will re-home after playing the song. After saving it, name it Gilligan's Island. To make use of this printer setting when loading an object for print select Gilligan's Island as your printer in the Slic3r menu. When ready, press start to begin playing the printer and warm up its extruder. Once warmed up it will move towards its starting position before proceeding with your song and your desired object. Note that I've only been able to demonstrate this code on Repetier and slicer software and can't assure you whether it works for other platforms or not. As stated in the provided code, you'll see that loading .nc file requires pasting portions of code a few parts at a time since they may be too long and would paste just partially into custom G-code. However I would also like to give caution as this G-code was generated keeping the size of printrbot simple's print bed in mind, but if you want use it on any other printer then you do that by your own risk as it may go out of range. I do advise using at my own risk though. I should thank HomeConstructor for generating software that allowed me to convert MIDI to G-code which we will need further below:
