The skeletal left forelimb of a Japanese giant salamander, Andrias japonicus, is revealed in stunning detail through this fluid-preserved specimen from the Field Museum of Natural History. The oVert team's talented artist, Jaimi Gray, brings this intricate anatomy to life with expertly colored elements that highlight the forelimb's unique structure. By segmenting and generating mesh files using Avizo (version 2020.1), Gray masterfully reconstructs the bones from CT data, which are then edited, repositioned, and enhanced using Meshlab. For those interested in exploring more of this remarkable specimen, CT data is freely available on Morphosource at https://www.morphosource.org/Detail/MediaDetail/Show/media_id/43151.
