Are you famished yet? This gargantuan adaptation of America's treasured cookie has its foundation in a photogrammetric scan. I snapped 150 frames of an actual Oreo using a Nikon DSLR equipped with a 40mm Macro lens. While awaiting the crunch-time processing of Agisoft PhotoScan, I devoured the Oreo like any self-respecting cookie enthusiast. As a natural consequence, this giant Oreo features unscrewable sections, mimicking its miniature counterpart. The interior "stuff" was modelled separately since actual Oreos are unthreaded. I scaled up the design to match the largest possible print size compatible with our SeeMeCNC Orion Deltabot, which pales in comparison to what a Rostock Max could potentially achieve - producing a monstrosity of epic proportions à la Claes Oldenburg's monumental art pieces. To recreate this massive Oreo, merely 3D-print two black wafers and the male and female "stuff" parts in white. Subsequently, assemble the components using your preferred adhesive, with PVC pipe cement being my glue of choice. On our latest episode of the 3D Printing Today podcast, which can be accessed through iTunes, Stitcher Radio, or downloaded directly from our website at http://threedprintingtoday.libsyn.com/, we extensively discussed this monumental cookie project as well as numerous other groundbreaking advancements in 3D printing technology.
