Giant Mechanical Laser Show
thingiverse
I'm the mastermind behind this massive mechanical marvel, a behemoth of a laser show that dwarfs its predecessors. I've upgraded and refined every aspect of this design to create an even more spectacular display. Key improvements include: * A broader canvas: 195 mm wide versus the original's 110 mm (your printer will need a spacious 200 mm bed to accommodate it) * Smoother operation courtesy of seven skateboard bearings (608) that reduce friction * Independent handle grip rotation, making it easier for anyone to crank this behemoth into action * Less aggressive cams, with a milder angle that propels the follower away from its resting position. In my original video, I suggested using convex polygons; this design takes it further, incorporating near-circular cams that make operation a breeze Every modification, including the increased size, aimed to produce a clearer image and an easier-to-turn experience. The original laser show was notoriously tricky to crank, especially for younger users, so I've made it accessible to anyone. This revamped version is a remix of my classic laser show, which you can still find on Thingiverse: https://www.thingiverse.com/thing:2383299. Trust me, this larger variant blows the original out of the water! If you want to see the basic design in action, check out my YouTube video: https://youtu.be/_dtBUiaAqRE
